Macadamia and Oud Foaming Shower Oil

Here we have a foaming shower oil made with skin conditioning oils of castor and macadamia nut. I have used a combination of emuslifiers Sebumol 1000 and Lumerol K5229, a waterless anionic surfactant that is designed for use in water free products. It creates a creamy foam even when used at around 10%. It isn’t considered a natural ingredient, however it is a luxurious one. It can be purchased from The Soap Kitchen and Aromantic in the UK and Naturkosmetik Werkstatt in the EU. I used a combination of fractionated coconut and sunflower oil, thickened slightly with castor oil. Rosemary oil extract was used to stabilise the vegetable oils as it retards rancidity.

I heated my oils directly on a hot plate and monitored with a themometer. If you are new to this I would suggest using a double boiler or bain marie in order control the temperature. You only need to heat the oils in phase A enough to allow the emulsifiers to solubilise or combine with the oils. If the temperature reaches much higher than this, make sure that you wait until the temperate drops to under 40c before you add the fragrance oils to the mix.

If made this is April this year and the sample is still holding up well with no signs of separation. It is a pretty stable product so far.
